Recognising Vulnerability & Early Warning Signs

LESSON 2 OF 10

Notice What Is Happening Around You

People may communicate distress indirectly or be unable to explain it clearly.

Behaviour+

Fearfulness, sudden distress, withdrawal, confusion, repeated attempts to get away or looking to staff for help may require attention.

Control+

Another person may be monitoring their phone, speaking for them, preventing them leaving or isolating them.

Intoxication+

Unexpected or severe intoxication can increase vulnerability and may also indicate a medical emergency.

Harassment+

Unwanted following, touching, sexual comments, threats or persistent attention should not be dismissed as normal nightlife behaviour.
