Harassment, Sexual Assault & Safeguarding Disclosures
Listen Without Investigating
Your job is to support, safeguard and escalate—not conduct an interrogation.
Take disclosures seriously. Do not ask leading or unnecessary questions, promise secrecy, blame the person or require them to confront anyone. Record significant information accurately and pass it to the appropriate safeguarding/management/police route.
Preserve choice where possible
Unless immediate safety or safeguarding duties require otherwise, explain options and involve the person in decisions about what happens next.
