Competence Matters
Technology cannot compensate for staff who are untrained, unbriefed or deployed outside competence.
Safety-critical roles should be filled by appropriately experienced, qualified and competent staff. Security roles may require an SIA licence depending on the activity and setting. Service roles still require training and briefing.
Briefing+
Understand your position, duties, crowd profile, risks, emergency arrangements, communication method and escalation route.
Debriefing+
Report incidents, near misses, defects and lessons learned so future events can improve.
Operations Manual+
The venue’s plans, risk assessments, contingency arrangements and operational procedures form the basis of delivery.
Event Management Plan+
Event-specific arrangements summarise how the current event will be managed safely.
