Safe Departure, Transport, Ask for Angela & Ongoing Support

LESSON 7 OF 8

Safe Departure, Transport, Ask for Angela & Ongoing Support

The risk may continue after somebody leaves the venue.

A person seeking help may need a safe route to friends, transport, police, medical services or another support point. Ask for Angela or other venue schemes can provide a discreet help route, but staff must know the actual local procedure.

Trusted contacts+

Where the person wants it and it is safe, help them contact a trusted friend or family member. Do not automatically call a companion who may be part of the concern.

Transport+

Use approved taxi or transport arrangements where available. Consider whether the suspected person can observe or follow the departure.

Ask for Angela+

If the venue uses the scheme, respond discreetly and follow the local process. Do not loudly announce the code phrase or draw attention to the person.

Handover+

When handing over to police, medical or another welfare service, pass relevant facts while respecting privacy.

Do not eject vulnerability

A distressed or potentially spiked person should not be simply pushed out of the venue without considering welfare and safeguarding risk.

Knowledge check

A person asks for Angela and quietly says they do not feel safe with their date. What should you do?
