Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Professional Standards
Inclusive service is part of professional security.
Controlled Space staff work with people from many backgrounds. Equality means fair treatment and fair access to services. Inclusion means removing avoidable barriers so people can participate safely and with dignity. Security controls remain important, but they should be applied objectively and respectfully.
Fair does not always mean identical+
A reasonable adjustment may change how a service is delivered without weakening the safety objective. For example, using a quieter search location or allowing additional processing time.
Dignity+
Do not ridicule accents, disability, religion, gender expression, age, appearance or family arrangements. Maintain professional language even during enforcement.
Consistency+
Apply searches, access rules and behaviour standards based on legitimate criteria, not stereotypes or personal preference.
Speak up+
Challenge or report discriminatory behaviour by colleagues or customers using the appropriate route, particularly where it affects safety, welfare or service.
People are more likely to cooperate when they understand the process and feel they are being treated fairly.
