The Security Customer-Service Role
The Security Customer-Service Role
Safety, security and service should reinforce each other.
Customers often meet security staff before anyone else. A confident, helpful first contact improves compliance, reduces uncertainty and supports the client’s reputation. Good customer service never means ignoring safety or security requirements.
Welcome and reassurance+
Be visible, approachable and ready to help. Acknowledge people rather than staring through them or appearing distracted.
Explain controls+
Where appropriate, explain why a search, queue, route or access check is required. People cooperate more readily when instructions are clear and consistent.
Know your limits+
If you do not know the answer, say so and find the correct information rather than guessing.
Represent two brands+
Your behaviour reflects both Controlled Space and the client venue/event. Follow venue-specific service standards alongside company standards.
Helpful staff reduce confusion, prevent complaints and often spot welfare or security concerns earlier.
