Professional Presence, Positioning & Personal Safety
Your body language and position communicate before you speak.
Use a calm, balanced stance, appropriate distance and a route of escape. Avoid crowding, pointing, aggressive gestures or positioning that traps the other person unnecessarily. Stay aware of companions, objects, vehicles, barriers and changing crowd movement.
Distance+
Maintain enough space to communicate and react. If somebody repeatedly closes distance, use clear boundaries and reposition rather than automatically mirroring aggression.
Exit and escape+
Know where you can move if risk increases. Avoid standing between an aggressive person and a solid barrier or allowing yourself to be surrounded by a group.
Hands and posture+
Keep a non-threatening but ready posture. Sudden grabbing or pushing can turn verbal conflict into physical confrontation.
Team positioning+
Colleagues should support without forming an unnecessary intimidating ring. One person should usually lead communication while others observe and manage space.
Disengaging or repositioning is often the safest professional choice. You do not need to βwinβ a verbal exchange.
