Scenarios, Sunflower Standards & Final Check

LESSON 10 OF 10

Support Without Assumptions

Professional accessibility means noticing barriers, listening and using safe, approved solutions.

Scenario: long queue+

A Sunflower wearer says they cannot remain in the queue because of a medical condition. Do not interrogate them. Use the approved queue/accessibility process and seek support where necessary.

Scenario: communication difficulty+

A customer appears confused by repeated verbal instructions. Slow down, simplify the explanation, consider another communication method and maintain dignity.

Scenario: accessible toilet+

A person without a visible impairment requests the accessible toilet. Do not challenge them based on appearance. Provide directions/access according to venue arrangements.

Scenario: distress at screening+

A customer becomes distressed during screening and says they are autistic. Reduce unnecessary pressure, explain the requirement and use the approved adjustment/escalation process.

Knowledge check

Which statement best reflects Controlled Space standards?

Final standard

Never make someone publicly justify a private medical condition merely to receive respectful service. When unsure, seek help from your supervisor, Control or the venue accessibility/welfare lead.
