Emergency Plans Must Include Everyone
Do not assume everyone can hear an alarm, read signage, use stairs or move at the same speed.
Announcements+
Some people may not hear or understand a PA announcement. Provide clear direct information when instructed and use venue communication arrangements.
Mobility and refuges+
Know the venue arrangements for people who cannot use standard evacuation routes, including refuges or assisted evacuation procedures where provided.
Hidden distress+
Emergency conditions can trigger panic, shutdown or disorientation. Stay calm, give concise instructions and avoid unnecessary physical contact.
Do not improvise dangerous assistance+
Follow the emergency plan and supervisor/Control instructions. Do not attempt specialist moving or lifting techniques unless trained and authorised.
