Know Your Role and Escalation Route
Good operations depend on people acting within their competence and passing information to the right person.
Stewards, SIA security staff, supervisors, control room staff, safety management, medical teams and emergency services have different responsibilities. Do not exceed your training, licence or authority because an incident feels urgent.
1RecogniseIdentify what is happening and whether immediate life safety action is required.
2ControlTake safe action that is within your role and competence.
3EscalateContact your supervisor or Control using the current call-sign and procedure.
4FollowAct on instructions and keep Control updated if circumstances change.
Never guess
If you are unsure about an instruction, pass, procedure or authority, verify it. A short delay to check is better than creating an uncontrolled risk.
